Brian De Villiers

Brian De Villiers
Brian DeVilliers. And that Melanie's father filed for divorce last year because of it. We remember when young American Alexandra Stevenson made her surprise run to the semi-finals of Wimbledon a decade ago, and intrepid Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel writer Charlie Bricker broke the news that Stevenson's absent father was, in fact, married NBA star Julius (Dr. J) Erving. During Oudin's match against Nadia Petrova, Dad was there, but a row behind Mom. The man sitting next to Leslie Oudin last night doesn't seem to have been him, since Dad (left, with the youngest daughter), has a lot more hair. The divorce proceedings are ongoing. Mr. Oudin is a total hottie, so we don't get it. But it's not our life. He's an account executive with a company called salesforce.com in Atlanta, and a former varsity soccer and lacross player (NCAA Div. II) at Saint Lawrence University, with a BA in sociology, French and Phys. Ed, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The whole story is a serious cliché, of course; his kind of thing happens a whole lot more often than you'd think. Just to give an example, Czech player Nicole Vaidisova's mother is now married to her coach, Ales Kodat, and they have kids together. Although we don't know what the exact time frame was on that one; it happened a long time ago, and Vaidisova's mother may have been divorced by them. In a sworn statement made on Aug. 10, 2009, John Oudin specifically alleges his wife had been unfaithful with Melanie's coach, Brian de Villiers. "I didn't initial [sic] take any action regarding my early suspicions because I didn't want to believe my wife was having an affair with my daughter's tennis coach ... On December 29, 2007, I confronted my wife about whether she was having an affair with Brian de Villiers. I confronted Brian de Villiers separately. My wife and Brian de Villiers both admitted to me they were having an affair."
