Nate Robinson tugged on Superman's cape — and won. The diminutive New York Knicks guard beat defending champion Dwight Howard of Orlando in an electrifying slam dunk contest on Saturday night, winning 52 percent of fans' votes. Clad in an all-green Knicks uniform with green shoes, Robinson used Howard as a prop in the final round, springboarding over the 6-foot-11 center to jam.
Nate Robinson jumped over Dwight Howard and used a kryptonite green ball to take home the 2009 Slam Dunk title. Krypto-Nate took down super man with a cool jump over the back move. Viewers sent in text messages to vote and Nate took 52% of the vote.
Nate Robinson enlisted Howard's help for his show-stopper, and jumped over Howard just as Gerald Green had done to him in the 2007 event in Las Vegas. Why in the world would Howard agree to be a prop that might help his competition beat him? "It's all about having fun," Howard said. "Hey, he won fair and square. The fans loved it. We tried to put on a good show. That's what it's all about at All-Star weekend. It doesn't matter who wins or loses, it's all about having fun."
