Alison Krauss

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have four Grammy wins together, taking home Best Country Collaboration for 'Killing the Blues,' Best Pop Collaboration for 'Rich Woman,' Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album for 'Raising Sand,' and Record of the Year for 'Please Read the Letter. "When we started this project together, the whole game was a mystery. We gave ourselves three days and said if it didn't work, we'd go back Wolverhampton," said Plant, upon accepting Record of the Year honors.
Plant, the 60-year-old lead singer of the famously decadent rock band Led Zeppelin, and Krauss, 37, an angelic-voiced bluegrass fiddler, left the 51st annual awards with a warm glow by sweeping five awards, including record (single) and album of the year. Their multiple wins for the bluesy Americana album “Raising Sand” cooled off the hot rock band Coldplay, which still won four awards including song of the year for “Viva La Vida.”
Krauss’ five Grammys bring her total to 26, tying her for third place on the all-time Grammy list behind Sir Georg Solti and Quincy Jones. Other multiple winners Sunday night included the dance band Daft Punk, Adele, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo, John Mayer, Kanye West, Al Green and Peter Gabriel. Single winners included Bruce Springsteen for the song “Girls In Their Summer Clothes,” 89-year-old Pete Seeger, Natalie Cole and former Vice President Al Gore, for a reading of his “Inconvenient Truth” book.
