Larry the Cable Guy, I can respect her making money and working, but I don’t have to enjoy it. All in all, the roast was average. Nothing special about it, nothing horrible about it. I get the sense it’ll reel in the ratings, though. As for the best roasts Comedy Central’s ever had, here they are, in order Bob Saget - Norm Macdonald’s dry wit stood out on a show which was fairly heavy with good material. This was by far the most entertaining one they’ve aired.
Denis Leary - The first, and almost the best, it was comprised mostly of Leary’s friends. A real roast would’ve been the deceased Bill Hicks talking about the act Leary took from him. But hey, that’s showbiz folks!3)Jeff Foxworthy - You have to give it up him. He’s a class act and pretty funny. His friends, not so much. Still, they didn’t dominate the show, as Patrice O’Neal and Colin Quinn, along with the roast regulars, tore down the house.
Comedy Central held another one of their non-Friars Club roasts, and it was better than the Pam Anderson one (could one be worse?), but it was ultimately forgettable. Gary Busey is utterly insane, Maureen McCormack seemed awfully random, but Jeff Foxworthy did well. Jeff Ross and Greg Giraldo also brought the hammer down, as the two roast regulars tore into everyone on the stage with sharp and biting digs.
